Digestive health is one of the keys to overall health and well-being. The digestive tract is where nutrients are absorbed and where waste is eliminated. It also has important roles in immune function and neurotransmitter production. Without optimal digestion, you are not going to feel you best.
What makes our approach different from the conventional approach?
The conventional paradigm often looks at the symptoms as the problem. Have heartburn? Stop acid production with an antacid or an acid blocker. Have inflammation? Stop inflammation with a corticosteroid. This approach might help short term, but these medications have long-term adverse effects that cause their own set of problems.
The naturopathic approach takes treatment one step further than symptom relief. This approach looks at what is underlying the reflux or the inflammation. It may include looking at stress, diet, exercise, health promoting gut bacteria, infections, or structural issues that could be throwing digestion out of balance. This is a combination of providing relief from the symptoms and finding ways to prevent disease from returning.
We treat many digestive issues including:
· GERD/Acid Reflux
· Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
· Irritable Bowel Disease (Ulcerative colitis/Crohn’s Disease)
· Celiac Disease
· Small Intestine Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO)
· Candida/Yeast Overgrowth
· Increased Gut Permeability (Leaky Gut)
· Gut Dysbiosis (Abdnormal gut bacteria)
How we will work with you:
We spend the time to understand both you as an individual and the disease process.
In addition to the intake, we use sophisticated lab tests to identify the underlying cause of your condition to provide the most individualized, targeted treatment possible.
Eating healthy food leads to a healthy body and mind. It can be overwhelming to know what is right for you. We will work with you to find a way to eat that fits your lifestyle. There is no one size fits all diet.
Therapies We Might Use
As naturopathic doctors, we have a wide range of tools to help you including diet modification strategies, visceral manipulation, herbs and supplements, pharmaceuticals, and homeopathics.
